Buccament Bay - St. Vincent's Ultimate Resort
Island in the stream
St. Vincent is perhaps the most primitive, primal island in the Caribbean. This is a land that time forgot; a small, volcanic island that is incredibly dense with rain forests and raging water falls. The coral reefs and vanilla sand beaches are as immaculate as any that the Caribbean can offer. La Soufriere, the great volcano, looms over the island like a titanic sentinel. There are the Falls of Baleine that are so remote that they can only be reached by boat. The great diversity of this island is readily available to the adventurous traveler. From the sedate Montreal Gardens to the craggy Mesopotamia region, an extraordinary range of visual delights can be experienced.
Today, this English speaking island is quite hospitable. Kingstown is the one main town on the island, and it is noted for its three story produce market.
The premier resort on the island is Buccament Bay. It is, in fact, the only resort on the island. This five star resort has small studio apartments to four bedroom plantation homes for sale.
There are quite a number of cruise ships that regularly travel to St. Vincent. The following is an overview of these ships, their itineraries and their amenities.
PRINCESS CRUISES
The Grand Princess sails for St. Vincent in the winter. The princess cruises ship has a crew of 1100, so the service is more than adequate. It is a huge ship that is noted for the diversity of its cuisine and the sheer luxury of this fine vessel.
The majestic P and O cruise ship the Aurora sails to St. Vincent in the spring. This British cruise line is the largest in the world in terms of catering to a British clientele. The Aurora is a refined cruise ship that caters to older British sensibilities. The Azura, which was launched in 2010, sails to St. Vincent in the fall. The Azura carries 3100 passengers, and has a plethora of modern amenities. The entertainment and dancing are particularly sterling.
STAR CLIPPER
The Royal Clipper is the largest square-rigged sailing ship in the world and the premier ship in the Star Clipper line. It travels to St. Vincent in the fall, winter and spring. This five-masted clipper ship is a work of sailing art, and it is definitely a throwback to a different era of sea faring adventures.
CRUISE EXTRAORDINAIRE
These elegant and luxurious ships will carry the fortunate traveler to an island that is off the main sailing lanes but which lies within the currents of sterling adventure. The ultimate destination is Buccament Bay, St. Vincent's ultimate resort.
